Originally the Jewish Frank family left Nazi Germany for the Netherlands in 1933. In 1940 Holland was occupied and the Nazi regime required Jews to wear a yellow star. In this space eight people lived throughout July 1942 (Otto and Edith Frank (Anne's parents), Margot, her sister, Fritz Pfeffer, a Jewish dentist, Mr. and Mrs. Van Pels and their son Peter). Anne was making notes day after day in a diary she contemplating on her hidden fear of having to live in that place for years, her feelings for Peter, the conflict with her parents and her desire to become a writer.
