Christianity vs. Islam

Islam has only one Holiday that lasts for one month. That is known as Ramadan. Through this month, Muslims don't eat or drink from dawn to sunset. They do this to show obedience, humility, and self-control. The most important night of Ramadan is the Night of Power. This is the night where the angel Gabriel spoke the Muhammad. The Islam religion is divided into two sections, which are Sunni and Shi'a. The Sunni's were any devoted Muslim and could be a caliph, or a descendant of Muhammad. The Shi'as were only direct descendants of Muhammad. You should mention in your term paper that Christianity is very different from Islam, although they are alike in some. Just like Islam, Christianity was founded by a prophet, but by the name of Jesus. Jesus was born in Bethlehem around 6-4 B.C. At the age of 30, Jesus began his ministry. Jesus preached, taught, did good works and preformed "miracles". Christianity was also monotheistic, but believed in God. In the Christian Holy Book, the Bible, there are 10 commandments, which are guidelines to the Christian religion. If you do not follow these guidelines, you would be sent to Hell.

There are two major holidays in Christianity that should be mentioned in your essay, those being Christmas and Easter. Christmas is December 25, which is known as the day that Jesus was born. We celebrate Jesus' birthday and give thanks to the people around us. Easter is every second Sunday of April, which is known as when Jesus gave up his life for us on the cross. Christianity is divided into 3 major sections. Those are Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant. Protestant is divided into 9 sub-sections, which are AME, Lutheran, Episcopal, Mormon, Presbyterian, Church of God, Pentecostal, Methodist, and Baptist. Each have there own variations of rules. Although Islam and Christianity have many differences, there are many things that are also alike; such as they both are Monotheistic, which means they both believe in one God. Also, they each have a Holy Book telling the history of their religion and the rules of it too. Lastly, they both have Holy Cities which many devoted people travel to each year to try to bring them closer to God. So even though they two very separate religions, they are very alike.
